IRON ARCHITECT WRAP-UP

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

As Anthony at Offshore and Marcus at Super Colossal have reported, Iron Architect was a ton of fun.

Each team was assigned a specific type of mass transit to investigate with the goal of providing innovative solutions in a few hours.  Our team was assigned the task of researching an underground metro system.  We hit the ground running and quickly formed a thesis involving a decentralized, sentient system of individual pods that travel in a viscous subterranean strata.

This project continues and we look forward to sharing our new research with you, asap…

Hello West Coast!

IRON ARCHITECT

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

SO-AD was invited to team up with our homies at Offshore Studio to compete in this year’s Iron Architect competition, a component of the Sydney Architecture Festival.

SO-AD has drafted one Adam Jasper (art historian, Vice and Frieze writer and general Sydney bon vivant) to join the team. Huzzah!

We have big plans, including but not limited to the following:

  1. Various references to planet-destroying space stations.
  2. Coordinated outfits.
  3. Questioning simple concepts, like gravity.
